Traveling with Children
The dental appointment is the time that we have set aside for the care and attention that we feel you and your child deserve. Our Patient Care Coordinator schedules appointments so that all patients receive the individual and undivided attention of both Drs. Biggs and Tingling. We take great pride in seeing our patients at their appointment time.
Part of our mission at Destination Smile is to make every effort to see patients on their scheduled appointment time. While emergency care may interrupt our scheduling, we ask for your patience during these times. We assure you that we will treat your child with the same consideration as all others. Additionally, we ask that you make every effort to arrive 15 minutes early for your scheduled appointment time. This allows us ample opportunity to complete paperwork and discuss concerns, insurance issues and other questions you may have before your appointment.
Missed and cancelled appointments affect every patient and we must respectfully request that you avoid missing an appointment. If you must miss an appointment, we ask that you call us 48-hours in advance to reschedule. Should you fail to call 48-hours in advance and miss an appointment, you will be charged a $50.00 Broken Appointment Fee. Additionally, we reserve the right to decline to schedule subsequent appointments for your child. We strive to create an atmosphere of trust and comfort at Destination Smile, please help us by arriving on time.
We thank you for your understanding and we look forward to treating your child.
You and your child's first visit to Destination Smile will be a memorable one! We take great pride in ensuring that all of our patients and their parents receive the utmost care and concern during their time with us. Along with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, we recommend that a child's first dental be scheduled by his/her 1st birthday. Our office is open, warm and inviting as we strive to provide you both with a comfortable, pleasant and enjoyable experience each time you visit.
We ask that the parent or legal guardian accompany the patient to their first visit. You will then meet the doctor. Your first visit will be a consultation where we will take into account your child's previous experiences if any. We will discuss your child's diet and nutrition, medical history and concerns and their general disposition to ensure they receive proper care. Based on this discussion, the doctor will prescribe specialized treatment for your child in the hygiene area. This will include any necessary education so your child can maintain proper dental care at home. Your child will have their teeth cleaned and X-rays taken as needed. The doctor will then discuss the findings, make recommendations as necessary and answer any questions you have. Our goal is to provide optimal care to ensure the health of your child and their dental well-being.
You are welcome to accompany your child at all times during your visits to our office, especially on the first visit. However, we do recommend that you allow us the opportnity to interact with your child and engage them in a manner that fosters a trusting relationship between your child and the doctor and staff. We are experts in helping children feel safe in this environment while letting them know that this is their office, their dentist and their appointment. Eventually, as your child feels comfortable with their surroundings, you are welcome to enjoy the quiet and serenity of our reception area at any time during your visit. Our goal is to make your child feel comfortable enough so that he or she does not require your full-time presence. Of course, if you feel the need, you are always welcome to stay with your child.
